Cala di Seta

An island within an island, a protected and reserved enclave where, back in 1932, thirteen winegrowers came together and founded one of the oldest wineries in Sardinia, the Cantina di Calasetta, with the intention of enhancing the autochthonous Carignano and Vermentino vines.

Part of the vineyards are cultivated on the sandy soils typical of the island of Sant'Antioco with free-standing vines. One of the few places in the world where vines have resisted phylloxera. In the neighbouring area of lower Sulcis, vineyards are cultivated on limestone-clay soils, very close to the sea and continuously exposed to sea winds. The skilful union of the peculiarities of the two production areas guarantees unique and distinctive wines, faithful ambassadors of the territory.
